the steve woolsey band, in hand

As you may have heard, the band and I have been working on a long awaited studio EP. We have opted to use the facilities at Xtream Audio on the premises of Robby Takac’s Good Charamel Records. We have also enlisted the aid of two top talents in the local audio production business. Our engineer, A.J. Hury, worked with us to capture a sound that I am especially excited to share. Acclaimed producer Anthony Casuccio has joined as a partner in both production and mastering. Mr. Casuccio has local roots, is a former member of the San Francisco Grammy Board of Governors, has mastered three Grammy nominated albums, and worked with the likes of the Dixie Chicks, Our Lady Peace, Last Conservative, Nas, Cyprus Hill, Robby Takac, and Empty Crush. It is an exciting prospect to be added to that list.

Soon we will be sending the files to iTunes, E-Music, Amazon, and several other distributors, as well as preparing for a release that I have been haggled about for well over two years now. There’s nothing worse than working hard to create demand for your art, without your listeners being able to walk away with anything in hand. We will release the album with all manner of colorful hoo-rah at a release concert that I assure you will be held locally. More information will be provided as it is available. I have recorded several solo songs that are available for download immediately (on the “SONGS” page), if you simply cannot wait.

Last night I had the opportunity to hang out with Andrew “Jr. Boy” Jones, a Texas bluesman who started playing in the legendary Freddie King’s band when he was 16. This is the second time I have seen him live. As one promoter put it, “There are few things hotter than a Texas summer night…”
